As there is no textbook for what effective practice looks like in continually morphing information and communication landscapes, Joyce Valenza makes a stand of defense for the beleaguered teacher librarian.  She posts an extensive checklist for TLs to determine their role(s) from being an advocate for reading to teaching, learning and referencing. These and what’s in between make for a lot to do on the job as a teacher librarian.  Helpfully, she also puts a list of things that teacher librarians should unlearn.  The best one, and perhaps the one that is laden with more responsibility, is #21 –  That your library is bounded by its walls.
